Editorial Key Takeaways

This analysis is based on official Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRED) filings, historical peer valuation multiples, and exchange data. Figures are audited for institutional accuracy.

Indo-MIM opens on 23 July 2026 carrying the highest grey market premium of any issue currently on the board - around Rs 185, or roughly 38 percent over its upper price band.

That number is why the issue is getting attention. It is also the number most worth being careful about. This piece lays out what is actually known, and separates it from what is being guessed.

The issue at a glance

At Rs 3,811 crore this is a large mainboard issue, not a small one that a burst of retail demand can move on its own.

What you can actually apply for

Category limits are set by SEBI and are worth knowing before you place a bid, because crossing a threshold moves you into a different bucket with different allotment mechanics.

CategoryApplication valueLots at cut-off
RetailUp to Rs 2 lakh1 to 13 lots
Small NII (sNII)Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh14 to 68 lots
Big NII (bNII)Above Rs 10 lakh69 lots and up

Retail allotment in an oversubscribed issue is a lottery on lots, not on rupees. Thirteen lots does not give you thirteen times the chance of one lot - in a heavily oversubscribed mainboard issue, one lot per application is often the most anyone gets. Applying at cut-off with the minimum, across more than one demat account held by different people, is the arrangement most retail investors actually use.

What the GMP is, and is not

Grey market premium is the price at which unlisted shares are changing hands privately before listing. It is:

  • Unofficial. No exchange, no regulator, no audit trail.
  • Thin. A small number of dealers quoting a small volume, which is why it can swing by double digits in a day.
  • Not a forecast. It reflects sentiment at a moment, not a valuation.
  • A 38 percent premium on a Rs 3,811 crore issue says demand is currently strong. It does not say the stock will list 38 percent up. Premiums frequently compress in the days before listing, and the gap between the last quoted GMP and the actual listing price has been large in both directions many times.

Treat GMP as a sentiment reading with a short shelf life. If a premium is the main reason to apply, that is worth sitting with before committing money.

    Dates that actually matter

Bidding closes on 27 July. For mainboard issues the UPI mandate cut-off is 17:00 IST on the closing day, and mandates are frequently the reason an application fails - approve it in your UPI app before the deadline, not on the day.

Basis of allotment is 28 July. In practice registrars often publish late in the evening or in the small hours of the next morning, so if nothing is showing by dinner time on the 28th, that is normal rather than a problem.

Listing is 30 July on both NSE and BSE.

    The honest summary

Indo-MIM is a large, well-subscribed-looking mainboard issue with the strongest grey market signal on the board right now. That is a real data point and worth knowing.

It is also the only strong signal available at this stage, and it is the least reliable kind. The prospectus, the financials, and the valuation relative to listed peers are what should carry the decision. The premium is what makes it interesting; it is not what should make it a purchase.

*Nothing here is investment advice. Grey market premium is an unofficial indicator and we are not SEBI-registered analysts. Figures are as published by the issuer and the exchanges at the time of writing and can change - check the red herring prospectus for the terms that apply.*
